Our tireless efforts have at last born sweet, juicy, succulent fruits! After months of debate and hard work and more debate, Aver Collective has put together our second zine, inspired by the bodacious Bay Area itself. So to celebrate this joyous release of creative forces Aver is hosting an evening of refinery, zines, musical and literary endeavors in downtown Oakland at The Octopus Literary Salon.
Bring a zine and trade for ours, or buy a zine for $5 (we screen printed the covers ourselves), or just come, have a drink, and stuff your face. We recommend you try the Salon's world class faro salad whipped up by its extremely well read staff members.
In addition to libations and good conversation Laura Cohen and her cohorts will make music based off of audience suggestions. You are not required to pay any attention to their musical ramblings or you may decide to join us in noise-making if you are sorely tempted to do so.
After Laura and friends, Sigi Arnejo will host open mic readings from the AVER zine and beyond. Open to everyone, read from your own zine, a zine you brought in to trade, someone else's zine, or ours! We're totally open!
Then Christopher Krapek will DJ till the cows come home.
