Aver was recently asked to help rebrand Washington DC-based craft beer and wine store 1412 Hops & Vine as Pipetown Traders. Local wines, an unrivaled beer selection, multiple taps for growler fills and special monthly events, such as classes on ciders from across the world as well as on champagnes and sparkling wines, distinguish Pipetown Traders amongst its competitors.
Owner Ashton McCullers, a fourth generation Washingtonian, decided to play into the historic nature of the Capitol Hill East neighborhood that the shop is located in, which was informally known as Pipetown in the late 1800s.
Ashton tasked Aver with creating a new logo, business cards, website, and growler labels for the opening in October. Without becoming cliché, subtle references to Washington DC are included in the flag design and colors of the logo as well as the vintage map located in the background of the website.
One of Aver's newest members, Samuel, brought this project to the collective. His role was as the project manager, acting as the bridge between the client and Aver. After exploring 3 initial directions, Ty created the designs for the logo, business cards, and website. Nella built the website based on Ty's design and provided design assistance on the growler labels.
Word of mouth on the new store and identity has been excellent so far, and Aver hopes to continue to provide design and branding expertise as Pipetown Traders grows into one of the premier craft beer and wine stores in Washington DC.
